Arvin Noel

Arvin is the drummer for the Swing Noteables  and has been playing professionally all of his life.  He grew up in Wichita, Kansas and after joining the Navy he had the honor of playing with the U S Navy Band.  He then had   the opportunity to travel throughout the country during the 70’s with the “Grand ‘Ol Opry Stars on Tour” working with some of the top country music stars.  In 1983 he formed his own band called “Oklahoma”.  They worked in the Washington/Baltimore area.  After 20 years with the Oklahoma Band, he and his wife, Linda, moved to Greenwood, DE.  Currently he plays in the Dover Symphony Orchestra, the Milford Community Band and is the drummer for the 16 piece Smooth Sound Dance Band.

John Gemma

John Gemma – Alto and Tenor Sax. John is originally from Providence Rhode Island.  His playing experience includes time with the Rhode State Jazz Band, the 82th Airborne Division Band and the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble.  He currently resides in Dover, Delaware.

Joe Venerus

Joe Venerus spent his working days as an engineer and later as an engineering manager working on the design and safety of reactor systems for the Nuclear Navy at GE and Lockheed Martin in Schenectady, NY.  During this time he built on his early love for playing the piano by sitting in with a community band for about 15 years (Burnt Hills Melody Makers) and by playing solo gigs at a number of local senior residences in the Albany/Saratoga area. After retiring in 2007 and moving to lower, slower Delaware, Joe started to play at several senior residences in the Lewes/Milford area and joined the 16 piece Smooth Sound Dance Band, playing big band music similar to the community band in upstate NY. He started with the Swing Noteables in July 2012.

Kay Meade

Kay earned her BMus degree in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Delaware.  Composing and arranging music has been her passion since childhood, and she has had the honor of creating arrangements for ensembles at the Armed Forces School of Music and the 287th Army Band, as well as for a variety of local vocal and instrumental groups.  A member of the Milford Community Band and many of its spin-off ensembles, Kay is married, has two children (who are also musicians), and lives in Milford.

Cody Leavel

A 2012 graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory, Cody Leavel started with the Swing Noteables in July of 2012.  Cody brought much lively variety to the group with his contributions on saxes, clarinet, flute, and vocals.  In February 2013 he auditioned for a position with the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra.  Membership in this band is very competitive, with the most talented musicians from all over the United States vying eagerly for any open positions.  Cody was accepted on his first application as the lead tenor sax player.  We are very proud of him and glad to call him our friend.  Although we miss him, we were very blessed to have the talented John Gemma join us on tenor and alto sax.
